How to be Saved in 4 Steps

"Ye
shall know the Truth and Truth shall set you free."
A. Admit you are a
sinner….
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of
the glory of God.”
Romans 3:10,11 “As it is written, There is none righteous,
no, not one; There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after
God.”
Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of
us all.”
Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all
our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our
iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
We all are sinners. We all have willfully committed acts of rebellion
(iniquity) against God. We choose not to do what is right, but do what we
want to do. We all are guilty of sin. We stand guilty and worthy of
the consequences of our actions. God is just and He will rightly judge us
for our actions. We all have broken God’s Law. Exodus 20:1-17 We
all at one time or another have told a lie, have wanted something that someone
else had, we have put something above God like our jobs, sports, TV, the
Internet, Etc., we all have sinned and come short of God’s Law. We all
are sinners. Since, we are sinners we are rightly deserve to be punished
for sinned with eternal death in hell. But God so loved us that He gave
us His only Son to die for us, so that we wouldn’t have to pay the penalty for
our own sins.
If you still say you aren’t a sinner, then may I ask you,
have you ever lied? If yes, then by your own admission you are a liar
right? Doesn’t one lie make you a liar? One murder makes a person a
murderer. Have you ever stolen anything? Even taken a pen or paper clip
from work? If yes, then by your own admission you are a thief
right? Have you ever looked upon a person of the opposite sex to
lust? The Bible says that when we lust we commit adultery in our hearts.
So if you have ever lusted you broke the commandment on lusting. Have you
ever wanted something a friend, relative, neighbor, co-worker, etc. has?
For example their new Sports Car, Bass Boat, House, Kitchen Set, Etc. or even
beyond that wanted to out do them? If so, then you have broken God’s Law
on coveting. One sin makes each of us a sinner. So once again do
you agree that you are a sinner? If you still say no reread Exodus 20:1-17, the
Ten Commandments. Have kept them all? No, then by your own
admission you are a sinner right? So are you a sinner? If you still
say no, then read I John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” So let’s be honest all of us are
sinners and deserve to be punished for our sins. But God loves us so much
that He gave us His only Son to die in our place, so that we wouldn’t have to
pay the penalty for own sins.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.”
B. Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ….
God knew that each of us would sin, but He loved us so
much that He gave us His only Son, so that if we would believe in Him, we
wouldn’t perish, but have everlasting life. Jesus, Who is both God and
man incarnate in One flesh, came to earth and died in our place. “He was
tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin.” He endured being
beaten, scourged, nailed to a wooden cross, a crown of thorns was forced into
the top of His head. He died on the cross for our sins. He then
rose again three days later on His own power. He paid the penalty for
your sins and for mine. He offers freely forgiveness from our sins to all
who accept Him and believe on Him for salvation.
Hebrews 9:27,28 “And as it is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins
of the many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time
without sin unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9,10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
C. Confess your sins
and repent of them.
As the above verse says, with the heart we believe unto
righteousness. Righteousness means that we no longer serve sin, but Acts
3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
Repent and be converted so that our sins will be blotted
out. We ask God’s forgiveness and accept the gift of Salvation that Jesus
paid for us on the cross of Calvary. We ask God to convert us from a lost
sinner into a member of His family. Salvation is free for the asking, we
cannot ever earn it. Just pray (talk to God just as you would anyone
else) and cry out to Him for Salvation. Ask Him to have mercy on you and
forgive you.
Romans 2:8,9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith and
that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should
boast.”
A gift cannot be earned otherwise it isn’t a gift.
The Bible says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” We earn an eternity in hell through
sin, but salvation is a free gift.
D. Daily Walk….
Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone and not by
works. After we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and
Savior, now we daily walk with Him. Here are some things to help you in
your new walk with Him. We serve God out love for Him not to earn or keep
our salvation.
Psalms 1:2 “But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and
in His Law he doth meditate day and night.”
The more you read, you eventually memorize.
Memorization helps in our walk with Jesus Christ.
Psalms 119:11 “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I
might not sin against Thee.”
As we read God’s Word and also memorize it, the Bible
keeps us from sinning against God. The Bible strengthens us and helps us
to grow in Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 10:19 “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to
enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.”
As a Christian, we can pray to God knowing that He hears
us. We can talk directly to God in heaven.
Find a good Bible believing church and get involved
Hebrews 10:24,25 “And let us consider one another to
provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together, as is the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much
the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
I would recommend finding a church teaches the Word of
God. The important thing is to find one that teaches God’s Word and get
involved. Be there when they hold services, get to know the people, take
notes on the sermons, and learn more about Jesus Christ.
Other verses to look up Philippians 3:20, 21 which tells
of our promised home in heaven as Christians. Romans 8 is a great chapter
to start reading as new Christian. The Book of John is another great
place to begin your daily Bible reading and prayer. Put God first in your
time in the day. Spend time reading the Bible and praying to God and
watch how God works in your life.
