THE MOST IMPORTANT PRAYER OF ALL

The most
important prayer of all is the one in which you receive the
Lord Jesus Christ. The essence of this prayer is simple—it is calling
on His name. The Bible says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved” (Joel 2.32; Acts 2.21).
What is the name of the Lord, the name
which brings salvation? His name is Jesus! In Hebrew, it is Yeshua,
the Old Testament word for “salvation.” It literally means “Yahweh
saves,” or “The LORD saves,” and includes deliverance, rescue, healing
and preservation.
The Bibles says:
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God. (Romans 3.23) The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6.23) But God demonstrates His own love for us in
this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5.8)
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. For it is with heart that you believe and are
justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
(Romans 10.9,10)
The Lord also promises that if you ask
Him, He will give you the Holy Spirit. “If you then, being evil, know
how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your
Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask” (Luke 11.13).
If you have never received the Lord Jesus
Christ and experienced new life in Him, you can do it right now. Let
the following prayer be a guide:
Dear Lord,
I confess that I am a sinner and that I
have come short of your glory. But I believe that You love me and that
Jesus died on the Cross for my sins. I confess with my mouth that
Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that You have raised Him from
the dead. I now receive Your wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus
Christ my Lord, and I ask You to give me Your Holy Spirit, as You have
promised.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
